Anatomy of a care home website
Every care home has a unique character, which should be the same for its website. We don’t believe in boilerplate templated designs, so we create each care home website individually to reflect its character and uniqueness. However, we have done much work over the past two decades with care home owners, residents, and their families to fully understand what they are looking for when they visit a care home website for the first time.
- Ease of navigation, especially on smartphones and tablets.
- The website is kept current.
- Location of the home and local facilities.
- Specialist services, e.g. Dementia care.
- Contact information.
- How long is it under present ownership/management?
- Last CQC Findings/status
- Is nursing care available?
- Genuine reviews from families.
- Up-to-date non-enhanced photos.
- Facilities.
- Typical meal options and are special diets are catered for?
- External services, for example, hairdressing and chiropody.
- Entertainment options.
- Number of rooms/residents.
- Room options.
- Is the resident able to keep some of their own furniture?
- Special rules.
- Affordability (prices from).
If your website can answer 80% or more of those questions, it is more likely to compel a potential client to make an enquiry.
First impressions are everything
The majority of people looking at your website for the first time will be the family members of your potential residents and foremost in their minds will be “Is this the kind of place my mum/dad would feel at home in?” and secondly, “Does this home have the facilities they need for their wellbeing?”. It goes without saying then that a good first impression is vital.
